What to expect on the first visit:
In the first visit, you can expect I will listen to your complete medical history and do a physical examination. During this time, I will discuss with you those factors in your life which influence your health as a whole person. If possible, you should bring a list of your medications and any natural health products you are taking as well as any copies you have of bloodwork or recent testing as these play a large part in your health management. With your permission, these labs can also be requisitioned from your medical doctor. After your case has been evaluated, depending on your condition and individual needs, relevant evidence-based treatment options/recommendations will be discussed with you. Generally, after the first appointment a follow up is required between the first 2-6 weeks to ensure treatment is being tolerated. Please be aware, none of this is a dogmatic process nor is exactly the same from person to person; naturopathic medicine is designed to be based and tailored to your health needs as an individual. If at any time, a recommendation is not the right fit for you, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Balancing Hormones

Hormones are signaling molecules that play a role directly in almost every single process in the body. From energy and metabolism, to blood pressure and sugar regulation; from how you gain or lose weight, to your sex drive and vitality – having proper balance in your hormones keeps you alive and feeling well.  Hormones produced by the sex organs, thyroid and adrenals have intertwining pathways of production and an imbalance in one organ’s function can often induce changes for the others – this is why managing concerns from their basis is fundamental to getting better!

Naturopathy looks at correcting hormonal issues at their root. By finding an individual’s imbalance and designing treatment unique to each person, naturopathic medicine aims to get the body back into balance.

Optimizing Mood

When our mood changes it can be incredibly distressing and has major impacts on our quality of life. Feeling anxious or depressed is a sign something is going wrong, and finding more support and appropriate help can be fundamental for feeling healthy again.

In order to optimize mood, we look for underlying triggers which might be making it worse. Many things from how our hormones are balanced, to vitamin and mineral levels, to gut function can have big impacts on our mood. Finding alternate ways to support mood and eliminating underlying stressors on the body can make a big difference to feeling better!
